Sharon Kay Jilge Ferguson began life in Harrah, Oklahoma on June 6th, 1947, and completed her journey at her home on September 11th, 2025. I've written many obituaries, but this is by far the most personal. Mom told me once, after I'd written the obituary for my step-dad, Don, that it was "Good, but a little wordy", so, in honor of that, this one won't be. Mom was many things to many people. Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Auntie, Friend. To me, she was my touchstone, confidant, keeper of the memories. She asked many times if I thought she was a good mom. I laughed it off, because to me, it was a crazy question. She was the best mom that God could've chosen for my brother & I. Mom loved her family, children and grandchildren, Family history, Henry VIII and Gone with the Wind. She told me once that she "wrote the sequel" to Gone with the Wind in her mind, many times. I bet it was better than anything anyone else wrote. If you knew Mom, you were blessed. If you didn't, you missed out. We all have stories about Sharon, and sharing those stories will be a comfort in the coming days. After graduation, in 1965 from Crooked Oak High School, mom married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Breshears, and together they had three children, Shelee, Douglas and Kenneth. Even though the marriage didn't last, she was, and Dad still is, very proud of what they created together. She married Don that day after my 18th birthday and created a blended family that couldn't be matched. They had adventures, before finally coming home to spend the rest of their lives among family. In the spirit of not being "wordy", left to share the memories are her sister, Barbara Green, son Kenneth Breshears, daughters Shelee Key and Tracy VanHorn, all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her very special friend, Stephanie Moore. Waiting to meet her were her mother and father, Cora and Lewis Jilge, her sister Patricia Finney, her sons, Douglas Keith Breshears and Bryan Ferguson, and of course, her husband and best friend, Don. I will tell you all, her last act on this earth was trying to protect one of her children. That sums up my mother completely. Even being older, she still protected us with everything she had, even her last breath. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Dalton Viner Memorial Foundation or the VEDS Movement. I know I promised her I wouldn't be "wordy", but I lied. I could keep going, but will end with: I love you. Thank you. I forgive you. Please forgive me.
