Sharon Kay Amundson Johnson, 79, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully on August 19, 2025 with her family by her side at PioneerCare Center.
Sharon was born in Washington DC to Joseph and Betty (Heid) Amundson on November 28, 1945.
When she was six her family moved to Sharon, ND, which led her to forever be "Sharon from Sharon". She graduated from Sharon High School in 1963 and continued her education at Mayville State University. Later she acquired her Master's Degree from the University of MN in Morris.
She moved to Fergus Falls, MN in 1968 to begin a lifelong journey in elementary education, retiring in 1999 from Cleveland Elementary School.
Sharon was united in marriage to Jerry Johnson in June 20, 1982. They continued to make their home in the community they loved. She was active in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, many groups and the VFW and American Legion with Jerry.
In their retirement they spent 25 winters by the sand and water of South Padre Island, TX. The highlight of their winters were the friends they met, the sunshine, and enjoying the pool.
Her home, t-shirt collection, and garden were a reflection of her special touch with decorating and design. Her flowers were spectacular.
She always had a special cute little nook for enjoying her books and magazines.
She loved to sing and dance. Sharon and Jerry were always the best couple on the dance floor.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 43 years; her brother, Tommy (Jane) Amundson; daughter, Taryn (Stephen) Sveet and family: Savannah, Shea, and Scarlett of Beach, ND; her sister, Susie (Martty Zeller) Amundson of Home, AK; sister-in-law, Laura Amundson and son, Bart of Bloomington, MN, and daughter Amanda Amundson of Erie, CO; Jerry's sons, Todd Gregory Johnson, Terence (Anna) Johnson , and daughter Taylee and Travis (Lynn) Johnson and daughter Abby, all of Fergus Falls; Jerry's brother, Pete (Jane) Johnson, sister, Nancy (Steve) Loeffler, all of Fergus Falls; five nephews and one niece.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; granddaughter, Emily Johnson; and Jerry's parents, Harlen and Delores Johnson.
Sharon's ashes will be laid to rest with her family in Hoff Cemetery in Sharon, ND and with her many beautiful flowers. No services are planned. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. May her memory be cherished.
