Shawn Terrence Brewer

Shawn Terrence Brewer was born November 14, 1967, to the union of Gene and Barbara Anne Brewer in Madera, California.
Shawn attended Sierra Vista Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Jr. High School, and graduated from Madera High School in June 1985.
He was employed by Wendys Restaurant while in high school and for several years afterwards. Shawn relocated to Fresno, California in 1989 and continued working for Wendys in Fresno. In 1991, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he found work at Whataburger Restaurant. He quickly worked his way up to become the manager of his store.
Shawn loved to cook and share delicious meals with the family. He also enjoyed researching and recording our family history along with Barbara Anne. His other hobbies were visiting the casinos, collecting elephant figurines, and rooting for his favorite football team, the Seattle Seahawks.
Shawn had a dream of owning and operating a food truck, and he achieved his dream from 2017 to 2019. He began to have health problems in 2019 and was forced to take some time off work. He was happy that he was able to operate his food truck, if only for a few years. After a short time off, he returned to being a manager at Whataburger, until health problems again forced him to stop working in October 2023.
He moved back home to Madera in February 2024. Sadly, his health continued to deteriorate. On the morning of May 26, 2025, while surrounded by family, Shawn got his wings.
Shawn was a generous, family oriented, loving person. He was always willing to help others. He had a special bond with his mom and siblings, Tyra and Donson. He enjoyed spending time with the family and our family reunions were one of his favorite events. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Shawn was preceded in death by his beloved mom, Barbara Anne, and by his brother, Gene Brewer Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his dad, Gene Brewer Sr.; sister, Tyra Brewer (Verneal); brother, Donson Brewer (Lisa); niece, Rochelle Brewer; nephew, Darshawn Brewer; great nieces Maliyah Moore, Aziyah Spencer, and Aleah Brewer; great nephews Montae Moore and Dawshawn Brewer Jr.; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to Shawns kind and loving caregivers, Arianna Locke and Riviera Dalton. Tyra and Donson were devoted to helping Shawn during his illness as well.
