Ronald Duskin Brewer, age 76, of Midland, TX, unexpectedly began his celebration in Heaven on August 10, 2025. We imagine he entered the gates with a big smile, a bigger laugh, ready to hug Jesus. Ron was born in Lamesa, TX on August 27, 1948, to Frank Brewer and Jeannine Middleton Brewer. He grew up with grit and a wild sense of humor that followed him his entire life. He graduated from Deming High School in 1966 and went on to wrestle at New Mexico State University. It was there, In July of 1972, that he met the true love of his life, Diane Bonecutter-a name he never stopped saying with pride. They married on December 16, 1972, in Hillsboro, NM, and just recently celebrated 52 beautiful, chaotic, and love-filled years of marriage. Early on in their marriage, they ran a foster home in Las Cruces. They moved several times but always managed to be involved in helping others. For 5 years, they ran the boys' dorm at McCurdy Methodist Mission school, then he felt called into full time ministry. Ron's journey led him to Oral Roberts University, where he earned his Master of Divinity in 1985. From there, he spent decades pastoring churches across West Texas and New Mexico-Artesia, San Jon, Lordsburg, Eunice, Alcalde, Hernandez, Vallecitos, El Rito, Clovis, and El Paso. He also served joyfully at church camps in Sacramento, on several Walk to Emmaus teams, and with Kairos Prison Ministry, where he reminded everyone-no matter their past-that they were deeply loved by God. If there was a place with people in it, Ron wanted to be there loving them, praying for them, sharing stories, telling them a dad joke, or playing a prank or two. Even when he tried to "retire," he found himself back in the pulpit in Eunice, NM-because as Ron always said, "God's not done with me yet." But of all his titles-pastor, mentor, counselor, oil field worker, wrestling champ, estate sale junkie-his favorite roles were husband, dad, and "Big Daddy." Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Diane Brewer; his father-in-law, Maurice Bonecutter (Midland, TX), his children, Sybil Yancy (Ted of League City, TX), Barbara Caswell (Anson of Midland, TX), and Robert Brewer (Roshini of Sachse, TX); the grandkids who lit up his world, Logan Brewer (Hannah Kenedy of Coffeyville, KS), Isabella Brewer, Craig Caswell, Nathaniel Yancy, Dawson Caswell, and Marissa Yancy. He also leaves behind his brother, Aubrey Wallace (Nancy of Schulenburg, TX), his step-sister Jan Brazzell (Delton of Fort Worth, TX) and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored him: Dru Ann Wahl (Tony of Bullard, TX), John Lane Scarborough (Nancy of Rico, CO), Paige Wallace (Burke, VA), Whitney Wallace (Brian Rogers of Austin, TX), Benten Woodring (Gina of Greer, NC), Austin Woodring (Caroline of Greer, NC), Charles Bonecutter (Albuquerque, NM), and James Bonecutter (Jessica of Fort Worth, TX). He is now reunited in Heaven with his grandparents, John and Elise Middleton, his Aunt, Sybil Mitchell, his parents, Frank Brewer and Jeannine, his sister, Sherry Wallace Bailey, and his step-sisters, Joylynn Truesdale and Tana Gray, and others who happened to beat him to the pearly gates. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16 at 1:00 PM at First Methodist Church in Eunice, NM. We'll laugh, cry, and probably hear a good story or two-just the way he would've wanted. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Samaritan's Purse, https://www.samaritanspurse.org/, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-continuing Ron's mission of loving and serving others. Ron Brewer didn't just preach the Good News-he lived it, every single day. And though we'll miss his big heart, strong hugs, and terrible puns, we know Heaven just got a little more joyful.
