Sheila LaRue "Lady" Strozier peacefully entered eternal rest on February 16, 2025, after a long residency at Truman East Medical Center.
She is welcomed into the Eternal Kingdom by her parents, son and three brothers (Arthur, Olen, Jr. and Raymond Strozier) and
her long-time companion, Vernon Johnson.
Sheila was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. She was a devoted member of Jamison Temple
CME Church, where she sang in the Angel Choir as a child. A proud graduate of Central
Senior High School, she was a member of the Class of 1974.
Sheila greatest joy in life was her beloved son, Raymond Eugene Strozier Sr. She was
a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan, an adventurous traveler, and a cherished
presence among family and friends. In her youth, she was an enthusiastic softball
player-so enjoying the fun and fellowship that she continued playing even during her
pregnancy. Known for her exceptional cooking, she was especially famous for her
delicious potato salad, often requested and paid for by those who knew its unmatched
flavor. A hardworking and skilled housekeeping specialist, Sheila served in various prestigious
medical and hospitality institutions throughout Kansas City. She dedicated 16 years of
service to Truman Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and care.
Sheila's memory will be forever cherished by her loving siblings: Linda Strozier-Delancy,
Denver, CO.; Willard Strozier (Hayley) San Pedro, CA.; Michael Strozier (Catherina)
Miami Gardens, FL.; Charles Strozier (Phyllis), Kansas City, MO.; Cheryl Strozier-
Silvers, Kansas City, MO.; and JoAnn Strozier-McRae (Greshin), Lewisville, TX. She
also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Rivera-Strozier, Lincoln, NE. and a host
of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will forever honor her
life and legacy.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1, at 11:00am at Jamison Memorial Temple CME Church. Interment
Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation Saturday from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Arrangements entrusted
to Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website
