Obituary of Sherilyn Ann Wigdahl
Sherilyn "Sheri" Ann McGovern Wigdahl, 75, unexpectedly passed away in her home in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Sheri was the 6th of 12 children born to Earl and Luverne McGovern on July 1, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN.
While attending college at the University of Minnesota, Sheri met Doug Wigdahl. They married on November 3, 1970. Five years after they married, they had a son, Forrest. While Sheri and Doug divorced, they remained close friends over the years; and love each other still.
Sheri was a social worker and retired from the help desk at the State of Minnesota in 2012.
When Forrest began dating Sara, Sheri lovingly accepted her and her three children into her family, excited to have three grown bonus grandchildren in Keeley, Brannon, and Devin Winters. She was then blessed with two more grandchildren, Ainsley and Alexander Wigdahl.
Sheri will be remembered for her welcoming smile, kindness, amazing hugs, love of angels and fairies, working at the Renaissance Festival, gardening, and her love of her keeshond Ruby.
She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Luverne McGovern and her brother Stevie.
Survived by dear friend Doug Wigdahl, son Forrest (Sara), grandchildren, Ainsley and Alexander Wigdahl, bonus grandchildren Keeley, Brannon, and Devin Winters. Siblings Earl McGovern, Lauren (John) Feeney, Mike McGovern, John (Judy) McGovern, Rob (Jessica) McGovern, David, Phill (Stephanie) McGovern, Jeff (Stephanie) McGovern, Terri Ann (Dan) Flynn, and Lynnette Huber. Many beloved nieces and nephews, family, friends, and neighbors.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 on Saturday, November 18, 2023. There will be a celebration of life starting after the visitation. We ask that friends and family share a memory or two about their life with Sheri.
