Sherry Benge, age 77, of rural Russell, passed away August 13, 2025. Sherry's wishes were to be cremated and hold no formal services. The family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life. Cards and memorials may be sent in care of her husband Rod Benge, 41711 280th Ave, Russell, IA 50238.

Sherry Lou Subrock was born January 24, 1948, to Leonard and Betty Subrock. Sherry was one of 10 siblings: Ernie, Ricky, Gladys, Lynn, Buddy, Twila, Karen, Raymond, and Linda. She was raised in Chariton until her junior year when she moved to Des Moines and then graduated from Roosevelt in 1966.

Sherry was very talented and could do anything. She had worked as a nurse's aide at the nursing home and hospital and worked for Johnson Machine Works as a machinist for 25 years, retiring about ten years ago. In her free time, she loved to make birdhouses, wishing wells, and wood burning signs. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many evenings fishing in the pond in the front yard.

Sherry loved and cared for her family and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Rod Benge; children: Tony (Petra) Jasper, Tom (Jodie) Jasper, Ted Jasper, and Leona (Eric) Sowers; grandchildren: Michael, Dominic, Kareem, Sandra, Jasmin, Michael, Elizabeth, Chelsey, and Austin; 13 great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
