SHIRLEY BEESON BERRY

Shirley Beeson Berry, 92, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at Addison House of Florence surrounded by her loving family. She was the oldest daughter of the late Emory Andrew Beeson, Jr. and Julia Carol Herring Beeson of Marion, SC. She was born in the Spring Branch community of Mairon County February 20, 1933. Shirley was happily married to the late Julian Hayes Berry until his death. The made their home on the family farm in the Oak Grove community near Latta, SC.

After graduating from Marion High School in 1950, Shirley attended Winthrop College. She was a member of the chorus and graduated in 1954 with a degree in elementary education. She taught in Latta schools for over 30 years until her retirement.

Shirley moved to Marion in 1985 and made her home there until her health declined. She was a long time, active member of Marion Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was a member of the women's morning circle and the Martha Ministry. She was a former member of the Azalea Garden Club. Shirley loved her family, her home, her church, music, flowers and spending time at her beach house in Cherry Grove.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Beeson, and sister, Ann Carol B. Sinclair. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Beeson, and brother, Baxter (Franbeth) Beeson, sister-in-law, Sherry Beeson, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

Visitation and a service of thanksgiving to God for her long and blessed life will be held at Marion Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 20, 2025. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall, the service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary with Reverends Pual and Laura Gasque officiating. A private burial will be held at Bethesda Southern Methodist Church in Oak Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Marion Presbyterian Church, PO Box 186, Marion, SC 29571 or Bethesda Southern Methodist Church, PO Box 583, Latta, SC 29565.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of both Addison House in Florence, and Agape Hospice for the loving care they provided Shirley during her stay.
