Shirley Ann (Young) Cherry, 78, of Greenwood passed away at her home on December 26, 2022. Shirley was born on December 18, 1944, in Red Boiling Springs, TN to Harvey and Kathleen (Kirby) Young. She married her husband, Charlie Cherry on May 27, 1967. Shirley was retired from Franciscan Health Services where she had served as a Unit Secretary and helped organize the volunteers for the hospital. Shirley was a member of the Shelbyville Road Church of Christ. Shirley also had a love to travel and was fortunate enough to travel to Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France, England, Italy, Austria, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, and Alaska as well as many other states. She was an excellent self-taught cook. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and keeping track of relative on social media both near and far.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Charlie; sons: Jeff (Aletta) Cherry and Chris (Cori) Cherry; grandchildren: John Avery Cherry and Dylan Thomas Cherry; brothers: Roger (Lucy) Young and Tommy Young; sister, Joyce (Eddie) Brooks. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Gabrielle Marie Cherry, brother, Freddy Young and sister, Jean Young.
Funeral services for Shirley will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 481 West Main St. Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Shirley will be buried at a family cemetery near Red Boiling Springs, TN.
