Shirley Dobey Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Shirley Anne Dobey, who passed away on July 24th, 2024, after a 3-month battle with leukemia. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 30, 1947, in Gaston County, she grew up in Landis and lived in South Carolina before moving to her final home in Kannapolis. She was a dedicated and loving wife of 57 years to her husband, Allen Dobey, who was her high school sweetheart. She was also a devoted mother to her children, Teresa Magaha and Kim Eroh. But perhaps her most cherished role was that of a doting grandmother to her grandchildren Lauren Magaha, Haley Hall, Jacob Eroh, and Jaxson Eroh and to her great-grandson Jace.
Shirley lived a fulfilling life surrounded by love and was a special woman to all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family and friends and caring for her pets. Her love for animals was a testament to her compassion, and this love and compassion touched all those who knew her. She was always willing to help when anyone needed her. She had a beautifully infectious laugh and was quick-witted, making those around her laugh as well. She loved the beauty of flowers, enjoyed music, and often enjoyed traveling and camping. She will be remembered for her loving heart, the kindness she showed to so many, and the warmth and tenderness that surrounded her.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Brenda Kirby, Sister-in-Law, Evelyn MacWelch, and countless nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Karriker, Jerry Bradley, and Terry Norris, as well as her parents, Dempsey and Rose Karriker.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for immediate family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite animal charity in memory of Shirley.
Rest in peace, Mom. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time.
