Shirley Ann (Johnson) Geyer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 8, 1937, she lived a vibrant life that spanned over 88 years, full of love, creativity, and cherished memories. Shirley was the cherished daughter of Edward Wayne Johnson and Idona Kathleen (Kelty) Johnson. She grew up in San Antonio, where she developed a passion for music as a teenager, performing with a local quintet known as the Teen Tones. Her talent and love for singing were evident early on and brought joy to many in the community. Before graduating from Jefferson High School in 1955, Shirley met her high school sweetheart, Henry "Fred" Geyer. Their love blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage in 1957 that would last until Fred's passing in 2021. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and a shared passion for family. As a mother, Shirley was a guiding light to her three sons Wayne "Bubba", Timothy "T-Bone", and Karl Geyer. She was an exemplary role model, instilling values of kindness, creativity, and resilience in her children. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, Brandon and Laura, and delighted in the joys of being a great-grandmother. Shirley's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She served as an additional mom for many children in her neighborhood. For many years, she served on the Police Wives Auxiliary, dedicating her time to support and uplift those around her. Her passion for crafting was well-known; she took immense pride in creating beautiful homecoming mums and stunning wedding cakes that adorned countless celebrations. Additionally, her love for travel with her family led to countless adventures, all meticulously recorded in the photo albums she lovingly assembled. Despite facing health challenges, including dementia in her later years, Shirley's warmth and love never wavered. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Fred, and her beloved son Timothy Geyer. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her sons Wayne Geyer and Karl (Kristie) Geyer of San Antonio; her grandchildren Brandon (Ashley) Geyer and Laura Geyer (Dalton DuPont); her great-granddaughter; her sister Nancy (Michael) Sova of Elmendorf; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will hold the visitation beginning at 1:00pm and funeral held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South (1700 SE Military Drive San Antonio, TX 78214) to honor Shirley's remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kerr County Flood Relief fund or the SAPD/SAFD Benevolent Fund in her memory, reflecting the family's strength and their dedication to the community throughout their lives. Shirley Geyer will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
