Shirley Ann King, age 77, of Henderson, KY passed away at 4:30 a.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the extraordinary care of Redbanks Skilled Nursing Center and St. Anthony's Hospice.
Shirley worked in the field of optometry for many years. She was most fulfilled when she was taking care of others. Cooking delicious food, mending clothes, and reporting the weather were just a few of the ways Shirley cared for those she loved. She was a sassy lady, a spitfire, and was not afraid to tell it like it was. She was an avid coffee enthusiast who drank her black coffee morning, noon, and night. What brought Shirley the most light in this life, was being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her truest joy.
In addition to her parents, Clarence and Juanita Duncan, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers: Kenneth, Donnie, and Sonny Duncan; and Cliff and Neb Tomlingson who were the closest of family friends and a second home for Shirley and her family.
Shirley is survived by daughter Shelly Turi and her husband Scott of Evansville, IN; son Glenn King and his wife Celeste of Henderson, KY; sisters Janette Duncan of Henderson, KY and Marcelle Powell and her husband Lee of Baskett, KY; brother David Duncan of Henderson, KY; grandchildren: Kayla VanWinkle and her husband Cody, Zach Turi, Cameron King, and Alex King; great grandchildren Cohen and Callum VanWinkle; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home, A Life Celebration® Home. Please visit www.bentongluntandtappfuneralhome.com to share memories and words of comfort with Shirley's family.
