Shirley Mae Washington Johnson transitioned at her home, after a lengthy illness, to go home and be with our Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:44 p.m. at the age of 78 years. Shirley was the eldest of five children born June 3, 1945, in Batchelor, LA (Pointe Coupee Parish) to the union of the late Joseph Washington, Sr. and the late Katherine Dixon Washington. She was the granddaughter of the late Magdlean Allen and the late West Dixon, and the late Isola Ned and the late Albert Washington. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Sharon Denise Washington Lazard (Errol) and Yolanda Marie Washington; nine grandchildren Kyshawn (Gilbert), Edith, Arielle, Austin Sr., Arthur and William Washington; Kawanda Washington Smith (Glenn) and Erroll Lazard, Jr.; fourteen great grandchildren John, Sahiem, Iri, Austin Jr., Prince, Karter and Karson Washington; Kortez Ingram; Khy'ell Cornelius; Armanee and Asiyah Roberts; Jontaz Williams, Janay Smith, Derrick Gaines; one great-great grandchild Ayla Miraj Washington. She also leaves to cherish her precious memories two sisters Audrey Mae Washington and Kathleen Washington Langford; three nieces, Sarita and Ava Langford; Katrina McCrary of Atlanta, GA; one nephew James Marvin Langford, Sr. (Nicole) four great nieces Katherine Steward, Alivia Carter, Amari McCrary, and Aunjell Langford; four great nephews James Marvin Langford Jr., Nathaniel, Gregory and Amani McCrary; one devoted brother-in-law James Langford; and one aunt, Virginia (Evelina) Washington of New Roads, LA. Preceding her in death were her grandson Jebau Joseph Washington, two brothers, Joseph Jr., and John B. Washington and niece Angela McCrary, a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley W. Johnson was a member of House of Faith C.O.G.I.C., New Orleans, LA for over 50 years. She was a 1964 graduate of George Washington Carver Senior High School, New Orleans, LA. All neighboring churches and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at House of Faith C.O.G.I.C., 2229 Allen St, New Orleans, LA 70119 for 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Elder Barryl Dillon Officiating. To the family of Our friend! Shirley! I was strolling through the obituary this morning, I was so SAD when I Saw Shirley Picture! Our Deepest Sympathy to Her Family. Especially Audrey and Kat!We all grew up on Gordon St, across the Canal. We did not stay in contact with each other, over the years,Shirley was a Beautiful Soul!!! We had fun times during those days! My children friend we were neighbors. Mrs. Shirley was always so nice and kind. She was nice to us all. She brighten up every one around her when we were young. We lost touch as years when by. She was a happy part of my childhood. God Speed Mrs Shirley. Ms. Sylvia (Barrow ) Price . Ninthward neighbor.
