Shirley Rose Pearson

Louisville - Shirley Rose Pearson, 91, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at St. Matthews Care Center.

She was born July 7, 1929 in Louisville a daughter to Joseph Eugene Mahoney and Izetta Harriet Ballinger Mahoney.

Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Presentation Academy and a graduated from Ursuline Purdue University where she received a degree in accounting. She was an appeals officer for the IRS for over 20 years, receiving the Carl R. Totten Award for outstanding service from the Department of the Treasury. Upon her retirement she spent time traveling the world with friends.

Shirley was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, NARFE (National Association Retired Federal Employees) and was a Kentucky Colonel.

She is survived by her children, Dana Raphaelle of Louisville, Mark (Diane) Pearson of Unicoi, TN, Christopher (Pam) Pearson of Louisville and Amanda Rose (Michael Brutscher); grandchildren, Allen Broadway and Christopher Lee Pearson; great-grandchildren, Gage Broadway and Presley and Maksim Pearson. She also leaves behind her siblings, Jerry Mahoney, Johnny (Rosa) Mahoney and Leslie Meurer (Randy).

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road. Burial will be private. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews.

Memorial gifts in the form of contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
