Shirley Jean Session Reagins
"School Teacher"
John 14: 1-3
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God believe also in me. 2 My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
Shirley Jean Session Reagins was gifted to this world on November 25, 1948, to the late Willie L. Session and Azelia Eloise Sturns Session. This gift was returned to our Heavenly Father on August 12, 2024, at U.T.M.B. Jennie Sealy Hospital.
Shirley was a beloved mother, sister, and dedicated educator. She attended Carver Elementary, Goliad Jr. High, and was a graduate of Central High School class of 1967, all in the Galveston, Texas public school district. Shirley continued her education at Prairie View A&M University, earning a bachelor's degree in education. She taught Special Education in Anderson, Texas, and would later relocate to Galveston, where she taught 5th grade at Burnett Elementary and Austin Middle School.
Shirley was married to the late Joe L. Reagins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pinnina M. Gadison, Laura McClinton, and brother, James H. Session.
Shirley loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She grew up in Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.L. Roughley and Rev. George W. Barron.
She leaves with cherished memories of her life, love, and dedication, one son, Byron K. Session; sisters, Mary A. Session Waddles, Felecia Session Jenkins; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley's career in education spanned over 15 years. She had a lasting impact on her students, many of whom pursued successful careers. Shirley had a positive influence on those in her community. She enjoyed helping children as a tutor and caring for the elderly by providing them with transportation. Shirley will be dearly missed.
