Shirley Singletary, 75, of Camilla GA, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. She was the daughter of Alton and Evelyn. She was a lifelong resident of Camilla and a proud alumna of the University of Georgia. Shirley devoted more than 35 years of her life to the children of Mitchell County; as a beloved kindergarten teacher and guidance counselor at Mitchell County Elementary School, where she touched countless lives who still remember her with deep affection.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Warren Singletary (2001), and her brother, Duane Hayes (2025). She is survived by her daughter, Haley Clark (and husband Matthew) of Carrollton VA; three adored grandchildren, Ashlei, Sarah, and Grant Clark; brothers Richard Hayes and Scott Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, former colleagues and dear friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Pine Cliff Baptist Church in Camilla GA or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
