Shirley Marie Swaner

Shirley Marie Swaner, 82 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, quietly at home.
Shirley was born in 1941 in Cumberland, MD, the daughter of the late William and Nancy Brown. She enjoyed pictures, flowers, gardening and going to visit her brothers and sister in Cumberland. Most of all Shirley loved spending time with her family and caring for and helping the families and children she cared for. She and her sister loved walking along the C&O canal.
She married Kenneth Lee Swaner on August 26, 1961 in Cumberland, MD, he preceded her in death on September 21, 2012.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debra S. Imes of Winchester, VA; sons, William E. Swaner (Nancy Sirbaugh) of Winchester, VA, Brian K. Swaner (Mary F. Swaner) of Winchester, VA, Marvin L. Swaner (Tiffany Dill) of Middletown, VA; grandchildren, Michelle, Denise, Tracey, Tiffany, Buddy, Cody, Allen, Madalyn, Bryndan and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Gabriella, Makenzie, Kayla, James, Jazmine, Jaden, Marisa, Hunter, Madison, Lia, Dawson, Travis, Ana, Lettie, Halle, Kenneth, Nova; sisters, Helen, Esther, Virginia, Theresa and brother, William "Duck".
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Kevin L. Swaner; granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Swaner; as well as brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held Friday from 6-8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2pm at the funeral home, followed by interment at Mount Olive Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Mincey.
