Scott Dee Swaner, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, departed from this world on January 8, 2024, in Lyman, Utah, at the age of 61. Born on July 3, 1962, in Ogden, Utah, Scott was the youngest of five children to Gene and LaDon Swaner.
Scott's journey through life was marked by his exceptional ability to connect with others. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1980. In 1979, he embarked on a remarkable career at Peterson Motors/Ken Garff that spanned over four decades. He spent many years as a mechanic and then transferred to the body shop later in his career. Scott's dedication and hard work culminated in his retirement as the Manager of the Ken Garff Body Shop in Riverdale.
On September 23, 1982, Scott married Jenifer Jackson, and together they shared the blessings of three children: Kyle, Tressa, and Ryan. Although their paths diverged, Scott later found love again, marrying Mandy Child on June 21, 1997. Their union blessed them with a son, Jarrod. They later parted. While life's journey led him through different chapters, the love for his children and grandchildren remained a constant.
Scott found peace in nature and had a deep connection with the outdoors. The landscapes of southern Utah fondly referred to as "Down South," held a special place in his heart. A passionate hunter and fisherman, Scott loved sharing these experiences with his friends and family. His favorite pursuits included hunting elk and deer near Fish Lake, creating lasting memories that he shared with those closest to him.
Scott is survived by his four children: Kyle (Jenna) Swaner of West Haven, Utah; Tressa (Kody) Quayle of Mantua, Utah; Ryan (Wendy) Swaner of West Haven, Utah; Jarrod Swaner of Clinton, Utah; as well as eight cherished grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and LaDon Swaner.
A celebration of Scott's life will take place with a viewing on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing preceding from 10:00-10:45 a.m., at the same location.
