Shirley G. Timchak, 86, of (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, died Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Shirley was born on June 9, 1939, in (Graham Station) RD Philipsburg, a daughter of the late William and Frances (Moore) McTavish.
During her working career, she was first employed with the American Diner; she then worked for about 5 years as a line worker for the former (North) Philipsburg General Cigar plant; and later in her career, she was employed with the former Philipsburg Tastee Freeze.
Shirley was married on November 24, 1956, at the former E.U.B. church in West Decatur, to Samuel L. Timchak, Sr. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2022.
She was also preceded in death by twin sons, Jerry L. and Terry L. Timchak; and two sisters, Barbara "Barb" Dixon and Wilma Yarger.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Samuel L. Timchak, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Clearfield and Andrew L. "Andy" Timchak and his wife, Judith, of Lanse; three grandchildren: Adam Timchak and his wife, Amie, of Carlisle, Kyle Timchak and his wife, Eunice, of Philadelphia and Zack Timchak, of Clearfield; one great-grandchild, Cameron S. Timchak, of Carlisle; two sisters, Mary Quick, of Morrisdale and Judy Quick and her husband, Marvin, of West Decatur; two brothers, Bill McTavish and his wife, Gloria and Jim McTavish and his wife, Caroline "Charlie," all of West Decatur; and numerous other extended family members.
Shirley was a member of the New Life Center, Philipsburg.
Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed tending to her garden, feeding and watching the birds that came to her yard.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Wm. Brian McTavish, officiating.
Interment will be in Bigler Cemetery, Bigler.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the New Life Center, P.O. Box 57, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
