Shirley Juanita Thacker Tucker, 80, of Bowie, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27th, at Brushy Cemetery in Bowie, with her son Bill Tucker officiating.

Shirley was born October 29, 1944, in Louisiana to Calvin and Edna (Grantham) Thacker. She married the love of her life Melton Tucker Sr. on June 5, 1964, in Houston, TX. Together they raised four children, and they enjoyed 47 happy years of marriage until his death in 2011.

She will be remembered for her selflessness, nurturing, and creative nature. She found great joy in arts and crafts, specifically ceramics. She enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melton, and their son, Bubby Tucker, and her brother Allen Thacker.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Idlett of Bowie, TX, Christina Taylor of Houston, TX, and William Tucker of Mount Vernon, TX. Grandchildren Jay, Ryan, Jessica, Taylor, Michael, Jason, Jerred, Matthew, Rachel, Sarah, Joshua and William. Her great grandchildren Reagan, Tucker, Rilyn, Jakob, Selah, Mason, Madison, Paislee, Layton, Naminé, William Jay, and Brynlee. Her older brother Jimmy Thacker of Spring Branch, TX, and her younger brother Billy Thacker and wife Peggy of Dayton, TX.

Shirley will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew her.
