Shirley Jean Vance, age 86 of Copperas Cove, passed away on the morning of June 16, 2024 surrounded by her family. Funeral services are scheduled for noon, Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Sneed Carnley Funeral Chapel in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Shirley was born on July 16, 1937 in Clifton Hill, Missouri, to the late William Jackson Jennings and Ethel Mae Shelton Jennings. She grew up and attended school in Missouri. She graduated from New Cambria High School in 1955. On May 7th 1960, Shirley married Jerry Vance in Moberly, Missouri. Shirley had a fulfilling career where she dedicated her time to various activities. She worked at Plaza Bank in Kansas City, Missouri from April 1956 to April 1960, followed by a position at First National Bank in Killeen August 1960 to August 1963. Later on, she worked at Cove State Bank before her final job at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove in the main office from January 1987 to June 1999.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Shirley cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She valued these moments greatly and they held a special place in her heart.
Apart from her career and family life, Shirley was also dedicated to supporting her spouse during their military service in the Army for 22 and a half years.
Shirley will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be remembered fondly by her surviving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Vance in January of 2011; her parents William (Bill) and Ethel Mae Jennings; grandson, Billy Anspach; and sister-in-law, Laurie Jennings.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Renee Breisch of Harker Heights, Tina Vance of Copperas Cove, and Christie Anspach of Copperas Cove; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Otis Jennings of Lumberton, TX.
A Copperas Cove resident for 53 years, may Shirley Jean Vance rest in peace.
