On the morning of June 11th, 2025, Shyrel Holmes Roberts passed away peacefully at home in Huntsville. Shyrel was a lifelong resident of Ogden Valley. She was born in Liberty to Robert D. and Sarah Ann Holmes, the 11th child in a family of 13 children.
She attended school in Liberty and then Huntsville, making friends that lasted a lifetime. She also attended Weber High School, where she met her sweetheart Robert D. Roberts. They married and settled in Huntsville. They were parents of three children Vicki, Scott and Bret and celebrated their 64th anniversary before Robert's death in 2017.
Shyrel was a rancher's wife, a working mom, a gatherer of friends, a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. Shyrel was outgoing and she always found someone to talk to wherever she went. She was a firecracker packaged in a 5'3" frame. In the words of one of her dear friends, "She was confident in who she was and how she was and didn't worry about the rest."
Shyrel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found comfort and strength as she embraced her faith. She loved being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as captain for Camp Durfee for several years.
She was Grandma to Eric (Lynn) Jorgensen, Heather Jorgensen, Ryan (Britney) Jorgensen, Matthew (Rachel) Jorgensen, Ashlee (Josh) Durrant, Amy (Mark) Drake, Lindsay (Brady) Ketchum, Emily Abegglen, Trevor (Cass) Roberts, Christopher (Keesha) Roberts, Britney (Bob) Silver, Bryan (Meghan) Roberts; and Great-Grandma to 35 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Shyrel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Roberts; her son, C. Bret Roberts; her son-in-law, Russell D Jorgensen; and ten of her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Jorgensen and Scott Roberts; and her brothers, Clifford Holmes of Liberty and Carl Holmes of Richfield.
Family and friends are invited to a casual gathering honoring Shyrel's life on July 26, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:30 at 216 S. 7500 E. in Huntsville. Services entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
