Sidney A. Brubacher Sr, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the age of 89, one day before his 90th birthday. He was residing at Bell Tower Assisted Living in Merrill under the care of Aspirus Home Hospice.
Sid was born August 10, 1935, in Brutus, Michigan to Ezra and Martha (Tyson) Brubacher. On April 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Margaretha "Grethie" Miller in Indiana. Sid managed corporate dairy farms in Michigan until 1970, when he and Grethie moved to Wisconsin to buy their own dairy farm. With their children, they owned and operated SidMar Farms, a registered Holstein dairy farm. After selling the farm, Sid finished his work career at Marathon Cheese. He spent their last years together, caring for Grethie as she declined from Alzheimer's disease. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2018.
Sid was a family man. He loved nothing more than having all of his kids at home for a meal. He loved visiting with friends and neighbors and he and Grethie were known for their hospitality.
He was a long-time member of Community Bible Church in Stratford. He taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. He also served on the church board and was frequently the Sunday School Superintendent. Sid and Grethie's faith in the Lord was a main focus in their lives, from mission trips to Columbia, SA and Mexico to sharing the gospel with many people in their lives and setting an example of living life in Christ.
Those who cherish his memory include his children, Agnes (Charles) Cross of Middlebury, IN, Sidney (Jennifer) Brubacher Jr. of Wausau, Jonathan (JoAnn) Brubacher of Marathon, Carolyn (James) Brown of Eureka, MO, and Rosetta (Mark Schulz) Brubacher of Merrill. His 18 grandchildren: Charles "Duane" (Verba) Cross, Glendon (Nicole) Cross, Bernita (William) Bredow, Romeo Brubacher, Thomas (Kathy) Walley, Missy (Jeff) Brost, Joshua (Giana) Brubacher, Christian (Brittany) Steinke, Simeon (Nevruz) Brown, Jonathan (Michalla) Brown, Elizabeth (Logan) Waggoner, Ruth (Micah) MacAdoo, Benjamin (Sandra) Brown, Jacob (Liana) Brown, Lillian Brown; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Sid was preceded in death by his wife, Margaretha; his parents, Ezra and Martha Brubacher; son, Harold; daughter-in-law, Helen; daughter, Marilyn in infancy; grandsons, Brent Cross and Timothy Walley; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol (William) Champion, Dora (Bill) Reber, Fern (Marvin) Hertzler, Velma (Phil) Hoffman and Donna Burrows.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Community Bible Church in Stratford (100 Field Crest Drive) with Pastor James Brown officiating. Following services, he will be laid to rest in Fenwood Cemetery. Following the cemetery service, all are invited back to church to celebrate Sid's life. He loved a good potluck! Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation from 9 am until the time of services.
The family would like to thank Bell Tower Assisted Living and Aspirus Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
