Sidney Jane Waddell Shell Long, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

She was the daughter of George E. and Velma Ray Waddell. Sydney was born in Jefferson, Georgia on November 17, 1934 and lived in the Atlanta area all of her life. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. Sydney had wonderful people skills. She worked until she was 80 years old as a receptionist for Troncolli Motors and Nalley dealerships in Decatur, GA.

Sidney is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Betty McWilliams and brother-in-law, James; and Barbara Beaty. Her beloved husbands, the late Rawson Paul Shell Jr whom died in 1961 and Carl Delano Long whom died 2024.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Sidney leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, family, and unwavering support. She is survived by her beloved children: Paula and Don Reeves, Rawson Paul III and Tammy Shell, David and Tina Long, and Lisa and Robert Acuff.

She was also deeply cherished by her grandchildren: Laura and Marcus da Cunha, Paul and Erin Reeves, Regina and Alex Waxman, and Candice and Zach Wright.

Sidney's heart was fullest when surrounded by her seven great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and lit up her life with laughter, love, and pride.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service to honor Sidney's life and legacy on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Westview Cemetery, located at 1680 Westview Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.

Her memory will be cherished, and she will be laid to rest surrounded by love.
