Sidney A. White Jr.
Sid, age 80, of Lee, N.H. peacefully passed away on September 19, 2022 under the loving care of Hyder Family Hospice House. He was supported by the Seacoast Parkinson's Support Group on his long journey with Parkinson's and Dementia.
Growing up in South Portland, Maine, he graduated from South Portland High School where he played trumpet in the band and sang in the Glee Club. Attaining his father's dream, Sid graduated from the University of Maine Orono with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
Sid's college education was interrupted in the mid 1960's. Based in Germany, he served as an Army Security Operations Clerk and Theater Manager.
Sid's career in accounting led to many positions with Sanders Associates, Maurice F. Blouin's, York Hospital, and Civil Consultants.
Sid's voice found a home in many church choirs: First Parish Federated Church of S. Berwick, St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, and Lee Church Congregational.
He also enjoyed being a member of the South Berwick Community Chorus.
Every summer, Sid attended St. Peter's By The Sea Episcopal in Cape Neddick, Me., where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years.
Sid is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Sheldon White Pray and husband Shawn; brother Bruce; stepson, Kevin Shenefiel; stepdaughter, Heather Sawyer and husband Kent; and step-grandchildren, Jacob and Ben Sawyer. Sid was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Tracy White.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lee Church Congregational on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 10:30. There will be a private burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please carry on Sid's tradition of giving blood at your local American Red Cross blood drive, or donate to his favorite charity, Heifer International.
