Harold A. "Snuffy" Smith, 77, of Magnolia, MS passed away surrounded by his family at SMRMC in McComb, MS on November 9, 2025. Pastors Wade Barnes and Brandon Lynch will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Snuffy was born on September 4, 1948, in Lawrence County, Mississippi to the late Elbert Martin Smith and Willie Pearl Wallace.

He was a passionate member of East Union Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and in countless other roles. No job was too big or too small for him. He just wanted to serve and had a love for his church. He was especially proud of being the Sunday School teacher for the Senior Class. He had a passion for helping people and considered it a great privilege when people reached out to him for any kind of help. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from ExxonMobil Offshore Division as a field foreman. He was a Nascar fan and would frequently watch and even record the races. Snuffy loved working in his shop, he enjoyed welding and was known for his skills as a welder. He also enjoyed working his land with his John Deere tractors. He was especially proud of his yard and maintained it meticulously. He loved music, particularly Merle Haggard, classic country music and Gospel Music. He would frequently share songs that pertained to any given situation. He also had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that he passed on to his sons. More than anything, Snuffy loved his family. He was married to his sweetheart, Sue Conerly Smith for over 57 years. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with a love that can only be described as powerful. Papa loved big and you could certainly feel that love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Stevie Smith, Kenneth Smith and William Wallace, and one sister, Yvonne Smith Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Conerly Smith, his sons Arnie Smith (Melanie) and Stevie Smith (Brandi), all of Magnolia, MS. Grandchildren, Hilarie Smith Cruise (Will), Mikaela Smith Brister (Hagen), Taylor Smith (Madison), Morgan Smith Davis (Gabriel) and Mikey Smith. Great grandchildren, Kinley, Ava, Evelyn, Watson, Carter and Joleigh, his brothers, Gill Smith, Peewee Smith and Melvin Wallace and his sister, Flo Smith Johnson and a host of brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Pymm West, Joey Allen, Adam Steele, Don Price, Peewee Smith and Brantley Smith.

Honorary pall bearers will be Gill Smith, Ricky Conerly, Rickey Lee, Andy Morgan, Billy Morgan, James Hucabee, and his Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to East Union Baptist Church or to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
