Stanley Gibson, fondly known as "Stan," passed away on April 9, 2025, at the Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 67 years old. Born on September 21, 1957, in Leslie County, Kentucky, Stan lived a life characterized by hard work and a deep love for his family.
His career as a truck driver was diverse and fulfilling, as he expertly maneuvered coal trucks, log trucks, and food trucks throughout the region. A true testament to his passion for driving, he also enjoyed operating his tractor during his leisure time. Stan's vibrant personality shone through in his love for communication, exemplified by his cherished conversations on his CB radio, where he went by the nickname "heartbreaker."
Family was at the heart of all that Stan did. He is survived by his beloved wife, Imogene Grimes Gibson, and their two sons, Beve Muncy and Jaden Gibson & wife Savannah. His legacy continues with his five daughters: Michelle Wielgus and Eddie, Wendy Williams and Robert, as well as Malinda Gibson, Jalynn Gibson, and Jaycie Gibson. Stan also leaves behind two brothers, Sherman Roe Estep & Robin and E.J. Estep & Charlotte, along with three sisters, Geneva Gilbert, Effie Muncy & Gene and Bessie Roberts & Randy. He also leaves behind a special friend that was more like a son, Timmy Adams. A host of grandchildren will carry forward the memories and values he instilled in them.
Stan's parents, Roe Estep and Lunie Couch Gibson, preceded him in death. He also mourns the loss of his two sons, Kenny Amos and Stanley Gibson, Jr., along with a host of brothers and one sister.
As we remember Stanley Gibson, we honor a man who dedicated his life to his work and cherished each moment spent with his family. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
