Stephanie Elyce Stopher, born on July 27, 1972, in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 31 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She valiantly fought cancer, exemplifying courage and strength throughout her journey.
Stephanie was an accomplished Special Education Teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools for 20 years. Following in the footsteps of her father, Frederick J. Goeschel, she dedicated her career to teaching students with emotional and behavioral disorders in Middle School. Her passion for education was only exceeded by her love for her family, and she took immense pride in being a nurturing mother and grandmother.
A graduate of Louisville Male High School, class of 1990, Stephanie furthered her education by earning a bachelor's degree from Georgetown College. She later obtained her Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix, exemplifying her commitment to personal growth and educational excellence.
Stephanie's personality was characterized by a contagious smile and a boisterous laugh that warmed the hearts of everyone around her. She cherished good meals shared with family and friends, relishing the moments that brought everyone together. Her loving spirit knew no bounds, and she deeply cherished the relationships she cultivated throughout her life.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Daniel B. Stopher; her daughters, Abigayle Jones (Jared Mercer) and Victoria Plamp (Christopher); her mother, Dottie Harper; as well as her grandchildren, Kaitlyn A. Plamp and Bailey D. Plamp. She is also survived by her aunt, Margaret MacFarland, and uncle, Donald Cline (Michelle).
Stephanie is preceded in death by her father, Frederick J. Goeschel, and her step-sister, Jessica Morrison.
Her legacy as an educator and as a devoted family member will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Visitation services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, on September 6, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place at Northeast Christian Church, Student Center, Venue B, on September 7, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at the same location at 11:00 AM.
The family will accept flowers or donations in Stephanie's memory may be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville, The Jefferson County Public Education Foundation, or any Northeast Christian Church sponsored charities.
