Survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Jo Catalano; stepsons, Kenneth Kotas and Gregory Kotas; grandchildren, John Kotas and Dawn Kotas; a great granddaughter and his brother-in-law, John Belmonte Numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Stephen (Anna) Catalano; sister, Genevieve Belmonte and his brother, Jerome Catalano Sr.
Steve loved to tell jokes. His beautiful blue eyes twinkled with everyone he told. Steve was a long-time member of Narcotics Anonymous. He believed in the 12 Steps and shared them with all, especially newcomers to the program. Riding his Harley, with others in recovery, brought peace and serenity to him. Steve had a passion for poetry. He could compose a poem anytime, anywhere and was able to recite all from memory. Steve always gave GOD the credit for giving him that gift. He was a faith filled man and shared his love of recovery to many. Steve will be missed by many and most of all by the love of his life, MaryJo.

I grew up in Bridgeport and Steve´s family also lived around the corner from me. We became good friends and stayed that way well after our high school years. I remember his beautiful blue eyes and his smile. I have some great memories of the three of us hanging together on Parnell: Carmie, Steve and me. Eventually we all lost being in touch for many years. I last saw Steve at his sister wake on 95th Street and we said we would get together, I regret not acting on it sooner as now it is too late. My deepest sympathy to MaryJo and family.
