Stephen Bryant Denny, 84, of Lanexa, VA passed away on July 18, 2024, surrounded by his children and longtime companion.
Stephen, fondly known as Steve, was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. A man of intellect, he graduated from North Carolina State University, and had a distinguished civil service career as a Naval Architect working with the Department of the Navy.
Although Steve's vast interests included antiques, classic cars, garage sales and an occasional card game, his favorite thing was to spend time with family and friends. Steve could effortlessly swap stories with someone his own age or engage in a comical or thought-provoking conversation with someone decades his junior. He could tell a story better than almost anyone and his laugh was contagious.
Steve's joyful and playful spirit will be missed. He is survived by longtime companion, Rosemary Daube; children and spouses Heather and Bob Altizer of Salisbury, NC, Scott and Kelly Denny of Newport News, VA, Reid and Chris Denny of Mount Airy, MD, Todd and Nikki Denny of Middletown, MD, Karen Daube of Newport News, VA, Jeff and Trish Daube of Hampton, VA, and many grandchildren; Woody (Meredith), Brodi (Brandy), Tori (fiancé Austin), Will, Taylor, Jeremiah, Matt (fiancé Heather), Natalie, Eva, Riley, Valerie, Elise and Lucas and great-grandchildren; Grayson, Jamie and baby boy on the way. Preceding him in peace were his parents Gray and Rose Denny, brother Tim Denny, and grandson Austin Denny.
Per his wishes, there will not be a funeral or memorial; however, his family invites you to donate to a charity of your choosing in his memory.
