Stephen Dowson Obituary Stephen H. Dowson, 83, passed away peacefully on March 21, at Ogallala Community Hospital. He was born May 29, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, to Harry and Halcyon Dowson. Steve loved Ogallala for the better part of 40 years. Twenty of those coming on weekends and then making it his permanent home 20 years ago. He married his lovely bride Trudy on February 19, 1977 in Denver, Colorado. Steve was owner/operator at Empire Oldsmobile-Honda Inc. in Denver, Colorado. He had active affiliations with the Rotary Club of Denver and the Colorado Auto Dealers Association. His greatest passions were cars and trains; as well as, a collection of belt buckles. He was very outgoing and always ready for a good time. Steve graduated from East High School, in Denver, Colorado. He then enlisted in ROTC at Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Missouri. That led to him joining the Colorado National Guard while attending the University of Wyoming and the University of Denver. He was active in the United States Air Force for a brief period of time. He was survived by his wife, Trudy, a younger brother, Dean (Tracy) Dowson, a daughter, Holly Emick, a son Dean (Mandy) Dowson and grandchildren Mckinna, Kaylee and Harry and nephew Roy (Kristen). Those who pre-deceased Steve were his mother and father, Harry and Halcyon, brother, Roy, and son, Stephen. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm with the family greeting friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Ogallala Cemetery with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. A reception will be held at Driftwood from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm following the graveside service. Draucker Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
