Stephen "Steve" W. Herdman, 57, of Northborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family, after fighting an intense and courageous health battle. He was the beloved husband of Maura L. Herdman (Narris).
Steve was born on December 22, 1967, and was the cherished son of George Herdman and Louise Herdman (Henshon). He grew up in Holliston, MA with his brother Scott, where the pair enjoyed playing sports, making memories, and creating life-long friendships. Steve graduated from Holliston High School in 1985 and received his English degree from Framingham State University in 1992.
Soon after graduating from college, Steve met the love of his life, Maura Narris, at Pizzeria Uno where they both worked at the time. In June of 1997 they married and moved to Northborough, MA where they raised three amazing children together. Steve's family was the absolute joy of his life. He was never happier than when he was coaching Declan or Grace or watching Tess perform. He also loved a good family game night.
Steve worked many years in education services at EMC and Dell, Inc. He was well respected by his peers and coworkers.
Steve was an avid sports fan, who could school many with his extensive knowledge of the game, and he loved to relax with a good book. He loved sharing life's special moments with his many friends. Whether life-long or newly made, Steve's friendships were an incredibly important part of his life. Steve's kindness, humor, and intelligence drew people to him. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Maura, Steve is survived by his three children Tess Herdman, Declan Herdman, and Grace Herdman; his brother Scott Herdman and his wife Glaiz; Steve was the treasured son-in-law to Robert and Mary Anne Narris and brother-in-law to Jason Narris, Adam Narris and his wife Ann. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, beloved family members and dear friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Louise and his father, George.
Steve and his family will be eternally grateful for the outpouring of love and support during these last months.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury on Wednesday, March 5th, from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
