Stephen Jones Obituary
Stephen Lee Jones, 63 of Bedford VA, passed away on August 7, 2025. Stephen was born on March 17, 1962, in Cincinnati OH to Delores and Ronald Jones. After graduating from Glen Este High School, Stephen enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country for 36 years. As a respected combat engineer, he brought the same skill, determination and loyalty into every aspect of his life. Upon retiring from active service, Stephen cherished his time with the love of his life Laurie. Stephen enjoyed gardening, watching football and escorting his wife to Hobby Lobby. He was a skilled carpenter and took pleasure in building and woodworking. He never missed a chance to spend time with his kids and grandchildren and cherished his time with family. Stephen had a sweet tooth for Mountain Dew and no gathering was complete without the familiar green bottle by his side. Stephen is reunited with his beloved dog Romeo, who was faithfully by his side in life.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife Laurie Jones, his children Tyler and Carly Jones, Anna Hadyk and Richard Moore, Keith and Jennifer Hadyk. His treasured grandchildren Landen, Annabelle, Cohen, Greyson, Brandon, Allison, Lukas and Owen. His siblings Keith Jones, Jennifer Piovesan, Kenneth and Patty Jones, Craig and Michele Jones. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His legacy of love, laughter and lessons will be carried forward by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Vets via online at dav.org or via mail to DAV National Headquarters, 860 Dolwick Drive, Erlanger, KY 41018 ATTN: Remittance Processing/DAV In Memorial.”
A memorial service and celebration of Steve’s life will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford. The family will receive guests two hours prior to the service starting at 11:00am also at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. To Send condolences online please visit tharpfuneralhome.com.
