Stephen A. McKay

Stephen A. McKay, 68, of Tolland, beloved husband of 37 years to Priscilla A. (Tornatore) McKay, passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1957, in Boston, MA, one of four children to the late John and Dorothy (Claffey) McKay.
Steve grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and was a graduate of Charlestown High School, Class of 1975. In 1985, he relocated to Tolland, and shortly thereafter, married the love of his life in 1987. Steve was employed with the R.E. Michel Company, in Hartford, for over 35 years before his retirement, building many lasting friendships along the way with customers and colleagues. Throughout his life, he enjoyed staying active by visiting the gym and going for bike rides. He also looked forward to attending concerts, listening to his favorite bands, cruising in his beloved Dodge Dakota pick-up, cheering on the New England Patriots, and collecting autographed sports memorabilia. Most of all, Steve was his happiest when he was able to spend time with his wife traveling the globe or cruising the waters on an Oceania cruise. Although our time with Steve has come to an end, his smile, personality and work ethic will be cherished in the hearts of his family members and friends for years to come.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his brother, Paul McKay and his wife Kelly of Norwood, MA; his sister, Deborah Cronan and her husband John of Wareham, MA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John McKay, Jr.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte 83) in Vernon.
