Stephen McNally of North Bergen peacefully passed away on June 19, 2025, at 68 years of age.

Son of the late John and Mary McNally. Brother of the late Linda McNally. Dear friend of Barbara and Alexander Soultanis. Devoted "Uncle Steve" to fur babies Winslow, Esme, Selena del Rey, and Tawney.

Steve was born on April 23, 1956, in the Bronx. His family lived in the Bedford Park section on the Grand Concourse. Steve was immensely proud of being a Bronx boy and often shared wonderful stories about his elementary school and parish church -Our Lady of Refuge. Steve attend high school in the Bronx and later in New Jersey. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University.

Steve had a lengthy career in the financial services industry working for Solomon Brothers and Nomura Securities. Later in life he found his true calling working with animals. He was a volunteer with Closter Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) for many years and later started his own dog walking /cat sitting business. Steve was loved by his clients and especially all the dogs and cats that became "Uncle Steve's "adopted fur babies. Steve made many lifelong friends during the course of both of his careers.

Steve will be remembered by all who had the opportunity to know him as one of the kindest, most caring man. His priority was always others. Steve was always ready to tell a joke or send a funny text. A devoted Mets fan he was eagerly looking forward to a World Series win this season.

Steve's request was to ask in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in his memory to Closter Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) – www.clawsadopt.org/donate.

I was a childhood friend of Steve's - met him at St. Philip Neri Day Camp. He was a great kid, and that obviously continued into adulthood. I lived a few blocks up the Grand Concourse from him.
I haven't been in touch with him in probably 55 years, but his spirit must have touched me today, so I looked him up and, sadly, found this obituary. May he Rest in Peace.

Steve was a kind and sweet man who lit up the room with his big positive smile! He was a fighter and never gave up. He was always such a pleasure to see and talk to when he would come to get treated and he will be greatly missed. Love, Alexa and the JTCC Lab family

Steve was a true, caring, selfless and genuine person, as authentic as they come which in today´s society is hard to find. He took care of my Vizsla Rusty and our adopted senior black lab Jett up through 2022. He took such great care of care with them and when they passed, he handed me heartfelt condolence picture frames of each over the years. I´d stay in frequent text contacting him about the Mets, even asking years back if he wanted to go to Citifield.

He was a saint

My deepest condolences on the passing of Steve. I had the pleasure of working with Steve for a time as a fellow Claws volunteer. He was always a very kind and caring person who truly loved the animals.
Rest In Peace, Steve. Memory Eternal.
