In class, Mr. Nishnick did things to make me feel important like adding my name to a true and false question on a test because I stayed up to watch a lunar eclipse! He expressed amazement when I memorized an entire paper I wrote on Charles Darwin. It made me want to Excell even more. He defined the vocation of educator.

Mr. Nishnick was my 5th grade teacher in the early 70's. He made me feel important and smart. He had an amazing energy that created a powerful desire to be curious, explore and learn.

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Nishnick family. I was fortunate to have had Steve as a defensive line coach in high school. He motivated and inspired me to be a better player and person. He will be sorely missed.

So sorry for your loss. Steve was a fine person and a great teammate. Steve and I played football together at Fort Le Boeuf HS and graduated together. Although I had not seen Steve in several years I am proud to have called him my friend. I am very sorry I will not be able to attend the services but he will not be forgotten.
