Stephen B. Olechowski

Stephen Bruno Olechowski passed away at the age of 77 on Friday, February 28th, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Mazalouskas); his children Karen (Terence) Brannigan, Steven (fiancée Dora), Kevin (Joeal Butkovich), and Michael; siblings Tom, John, Lucy, and Theresa; and seven grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister Gloria Jean and daughter in law Kathleen (Gudenau).
A lifelong resident of Michigan, Stephen was born in Detroit on April 17th, 1947, to Bruno and Angeline. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea with the 1st Battalion 81st Armored Regiment as an Armor Intel Specialist. His medals and badges include: Expert with an M60 machine gun, rifle sharpshooter, and National Defense Service Medal. Afterward, he continued his career in varying positions at Chrysler for a total of 39 years.
Those close to Stephen remember his utmost devotion to his family and Catholic church, Our Lady Queen of Heaven, of which he was an active member, serving many roles such as usher, council president, and festival chairman for many decades. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, Motown music, and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He always made sure his unconditional love and support were known to those around him. In times of need, he often opened his home to include other family members.
Stephen will be laid out on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. 15 Mile Road, Sterling Heights from 2:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:30pm.
There will be a Funeral Mass held at 11:00am with Instate at 10:30am at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 14 Mile Road, Sterling Heights. To send flowers to the family of Stephen, please visit our floral store.
