Stephen Abel Schultz of Springfield, MO passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2024. Born October 4, 1954, to Jimmie and Teena Schultz (Davis) in Oklahoma City on Tinker AFB.
Raised in an Air Force family, some of his favorite memories and stories were of Goose Bay Labrador and Pikes Peak Park in Colorado Springs where he showed his talents as a baseball pitcher before graduating from Harrison High School in 1972. As an adult he had to change to tamer sports of playing pool, golf, and fishing, which he still did with enthusiasm. A die-hard Broncos and Rockies fan he still endeared himself to the folks of MO when he moved there in 2018 to be near his treasured daughter Ashley (Tapprich), Son-In-Law Simon, and granddaughter Alexa. A skillful woodworker, known for his custom corn hole games, working as a groundskeeper, and bass fishing with neighbor Greg, he found a good life away from his beloved Colorado. Steve will always be remembered for his quick wit, ready smile, and mischievous sparkle in his eye. Always ready to do the next fun thing.
Survived by Ashley, Simon, and Alexa Tapprich; mother, Teena Davis; siblings, Tina Schultz, Jimmie (Lori) Schultz, Carla (Richard) Furlong and loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO. A celebration of life will be held in Colorado Springs. Please contact family for further information.
