Aurora, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Stephen Jay Scovil, age 83, of Aurora, passed away July 18, 2025, in Murray, Utah. He was born November 10, 1941, in Fillmore, a son of Derral Jesse and Marjorie Allen Scovil. He grew up in Downey, California, where he lettered in football and baseball in high school. He graduated from Downey High School, Class of 1959. During his high school years, he enjoyed spending the summers in Scipio with his Grandma Allen.

He met and married Linda Lou Kartrude April 25, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in La Habra, California from 1964 to 1973, then moved to West Jordan, Utah, where they lived until 1993 when they moved to Aurora.

Stephen was very involved with the Aurora Off-roaders. He loved to ride his ATV, was a NASCAR enthusiast, enjoyed classic truck restoration, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, gardening, traveling in his RV, going to car shows, collecting antiques and was an avid hockey fan.

He is survived by his wife of Aurora; three daughters: Leslie (Clint) Larsen of Great Falls, Montana; Julie (Brad Gull) of Magna; Carolyn (Alan) Charing of Portland, Oregon; a niece, Kim Dudley of Salina; his three grandchildren: Hallie Larsen, Finn Charing and Reggie Charing; and his beloved dog, Bud.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Derral Alan Scovil and a son-in-law, David Kyle Houtz.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
