Stephen "Steve" Michael Summer, 61, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family in the early hours of Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Steve is survived by his mother Marcia Summer, his wife, Becky, his children Shelby (Shayne) Pluto, Spencer Summer (Fiance' Megan West) sister Jodi Summer, as well as his loyal canine companion, Ruby Lynn "Punkin" who was always a cherished part of his life.
Steve was born in Washington, IL on August 3, 1963. He graduated with honors from Washington Community High School. Along with driving a truck, Steve was most passionate about mowing grass. He always said it was peaceful and a good place to think. Steve was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, but most of all he was a giver. Steve always put others before himself, even if it was a stranger doing "atta-boys" as he would call them made his heart full
Steve married Becky on September 27, 1997, and respectfully welcomed his two beautiful children who he adored with all his heart. He and Becky both agreed that they were two things we did right in our lives.
A private family service is being held at Grace Bible Church. A celebration of life at the American Legion Post 100, 211 Legion Road, Washington on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 4 pm until 8 pm. The family would love to reminisce with you about all the wonderful memories and humor as making people laugh gave him much joy.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship will be put in place on his behalf at Washington State Bank, to go towards a Washington Community High student in Ag/Building Trades. Please send your donation to Washington State Bank, c/o Stephen M. Summer Scholarship, 1110 Peoria St. Washington, IL. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements.
