Mildred Louise (Daum) Schaer, 95, of Dunlap, IL, was called to eternal rest at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
She was born on August 25, 1930, in Eureka, IL, the only child of Adolph and Ada (Clark) Daum. She married Chris L. Schaer on November 30, 1963 in Washington, IL. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2002.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Dr. Daniel) Schaer-Lange of Bloomington, IL, and Lynette Kepley of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren, Justin (Hannah) Lange, Brandon Kepley, Katelyn (Grant) Smith, Cameron Stukins, and Sarah (Nathan) Lange; and four great-grandchildren, Everett Smith, and Frederick, Penelope, and Oliver Lange. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandchild, Christian Stukins.
Mildred graduated from Washington High School and was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington. As an adult, Mildred worked for WABCO, as well as a canning company in Princeville, IL. After marriage, she dedicated herself to building a life on the farm outside of Dunlap, IL with Chris and raising her two daughters. Mildred was instrumental in nurturing her grandchildren, and, eventually, her great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend John Lashley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Easter Seals, 507 East Armstrong Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
