SHELBY: Stephen F. Wright, born on September 8, 1944, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, completed his earthly journey in his hometown on September 19, 2025, at the age of 81.

Stephen was a kind and loving man who cherished his family and church community deeply. For over 38 years, he was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he found joy and fellowship.

Stephen married the love of his life, Sandra Wright, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years. Together, they built a family rooted in faith and love. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, and their sons, Trey Paysour and his wife Amanda, and Michael McMurray and his wife Amber. He was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: McKenzie, Caleb, Lexi, Camden, Kelsey, Parker, Paisley, and Maddie, and delighted in the love of his great-grandchild, Lakely.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Helen Wright, and his daughter, Elaine Kanupp. His legacy of kindness and devotion will be cherished by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a funeral service to celebrate Stephen’s life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Stephen will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby, NC.

In memory of a life well-lived, Stephen will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and church community. May he rest in eternal peace.
