Steve J. Bobcheck, 88, of Holiday City West section of Berkeley Township passed away on Friday December 1, 2023 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. Born in Throop, PA he had lived in South Orange, NJ before moving to Holiday City West in 2001. Steve proudly served in the US Marine Corp in the Korean War. He was a firefighter for 31 years with the Newark Fire Department. He retired in 1991 at the rank of Captain with his last assignment on 26 Engine. Steve enjoyed bowling, playing cards, telling jokes and spending time with family and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents Stephen Bobcsek and Katherine (nee Nozdrovicky) and his daughter Linda. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years Mary (nee Montesano), his son; Vincent, his daughters; Diane Martin (Brian) and Marie Draben (Paul Jr.), his sister; Helen Lynn, and his dear grandchildren; Andrew, Alyssa, Nicholas, Sara, and Samantha. In addition, Steve was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday December 10, 2023 from 2pm to 5pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday December 11, 2023 at 10am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Township, NJ. Burial will follow to Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
