Steven Donald Blackburn

Steven (Steve) Blackburn passed away after a short illness at Jackson Memorial Hospital on August 13, 2025, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 64. Steve is survived by his life partner, Tracy; his sons, Nicholas and Benjamin; his sister, Christine; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lisbeth. Steve was born on July 24, 1961, in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He was flying planes before he was driving cars. He flew for many airlines, including Chalks, Air Florida, Eastern, and Pan Am, among others. Steve spent the last thirty years as a pilot for United Airlines, most recently as a B767 captain. An accomplished pilot, sailor, and fisherman, Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest. His mantra was 'It's a great day!' He was a proud father to his wonderful sons, a generous friend, and a charismatic presence. He will be deeply missed by many people around the world. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to remember Steve to make a donation to the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund (dahlfund.org), which supports individuals with financial need who want to learn to fly. The family thanks the entire staff of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital for their extraordinary dedication, compassion, and care throughout this difficult time.
