Steven Daugherty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Funeral Home - Carlsbad on Jan. 24, 2024.
Steven Duane Daugherty, 44 of Carlsbad, NM passed away at home on January 23, 2024. Cremation has been taken place and there will be no services at this time. Later this summer we will announce a date for a celebration of life.
Steven was also known as "PeeWee". He graduated from Carlsbad High School and took a few college classes in welding at NM State University. Steven was a jack of all trades. He started working in a family-owned mechanic shop when he was in high school then moved on to be a diesel mechanic. He worked in Otis as a water operator, then later went to the City of Carlsbad as a certified water operator, meter reader, equipment operator, and mechanic. After working for the city, he went to Mosaic Potash mine with many job details.
Steven was a fun, loving, hard working person that would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to hunt and fish and do many activities outdoors. His biggest accomplishments in life were his daughters, Piper and Ellie. (Pipito & Elbow as he would call them!) He loved all the children that were in his life.
We can't imagine our lives without Steven in it. He built many friendships and relationships over the years. With his passing, Steven is leaving behind compassion and generosity.
Steven was born to Michael and Annie (Bush) Daugherty, on April 8, 1979, in Roswell, NM. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves behind a loving girlfriend, Kathy Cornell, along with her kids and grandchildren. Mother, Annie Bush Daugherty. Sister Amy and husband Larry Hellner. Sister Sam and husband Casey Dawson. There were many nieces and nephews. And his most prized possessions, his daughters, Piper and Ellie Daugherty. Steven will be missed dearly.
