Steven Ray "Steve" Eaton, aged 71, of Oklahoma City, passed away on October 18, 2024. Born on April 12, 1953, in Oklahoma City, he was a beloved figure to his family and friends and was a faithful employee at The Oklahoman Publishing Company (OPUBCO). Steve graduated from Del City High School and furthered his education at OSU-OKC.
He dedicated 32 years of his life to OPUBCO, serving in Technical Services and IT from 1984 until 2016. He developed many great relationships and genuine friendships with his coworkers throughout the years. Steve met Cherry on a blind date in High School when Cherry was just 15. He asked for a second date but Cherry said, "no I don't think so", but they became fast friends. Reuniting in 1984, and married in 1986, Steve was a loving and devoted husband. He was the very proud father to Jason Maclay, attending every football practice and all games throughout little league through High School. He adored his precious Megan, she lit up his heart, like no one else could.
Steve was known for his kind, honest, and humorous nature. He was punctual, spoke his mind freely, and was a bit of a jokester. His passions included music, particularly rock concerts, and he had a keen interest in history and math. Steve was also a regular at the gym and enjoyed walking at Eldon Lyon Park until his health declined. He also loved working on cars with his very good friend Eddie Potter. Steve was a part of the First Southern Baptist community in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, Cherry Eaton; daughter, Megan Eaton; son, Jason Maclay; brother, Rodney Eaton and his wife Margie; nephews, Beau and Brent Eaton; sister-in-law, Debra Rawson; and his best friend, Mark Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Bert Eaton and Geraldine "Gerry" Eaton.
Services will be held at Ford Funeral Home, 305 S. Sooner Rd., Midwest City, OK 73110, on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 10:00 am. Ford Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
