Steven Jensen

1935 - 2025

Steven Jensen was born on January 12, 1935, in Gridley, California, to Ira and Elen Jensen. Growing up in a close-knit community, he developed an early passion for learning and service, excelling in school activities, sports, and friendships that would last a lifetime.

After high school, Steve embraced a calling as a Mormon missionary in the Central States Mission-a formative experience that deepened his commitment to faith and community. He continued his education at Brigham Young University, where his academic pursuits laid the foundation for a lifelong career in teaching. In the spring of 1957, he met his eternal companion, LaRee Adams of Monticello, Utah. Together, they established a loving home in Gridley, where, over 37 years, they nurtured a family and enriched the lives of those around them.

Steve dedicated 34 years to teaching mathematics at Gridley High School, inspiring thousands of students with his enthusiasm and care. Beyond the classroom, he served his ward and Stake with deep devotion-fulfilling roles as Bishop, Stake President, and devoted mentor to the youth. His faith and service remained the central pillars of his life. Later, as Mission President of the Ireland Dublin Mission, they guided countless missionaries with kindness and wisdom. Upon returning, Steve resumed teaching at Orem High School in Orem, Utah, for another 11 years.

Steve and LaRee's legacy is carried on by their three children-Brad (Kathleen) of Lafayette, California; Robert (Tenney) of London, England; and Wendy (Michael Shanks) of Provo, Utah-along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Steve passed away on February 24, 2025, having been preceded in death by LaRee in 2017. He is survived by his siblings, Hal and Shirley. Funeral services were held on March 1, 2025, in Orem, Utah.
