Steve passed peacefully from this world and entered Heaven on Saturday, July 27, 2024. A native of Clinton, KY, he was born on September 23, 1950, to the late Charles and Barbara Munsell. Steve graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1968 and later went on to graduate from LSU with a degree in Construction Engineering and Management. He began his career at Volks Construction, AKM Inc. as an Estimator/Project Manager and after 44 years retired as Vice President of Marine Operations. During that time, Steve became Pastor of Mission Ministries Chapel in Denham Springs for 12 of those years. While in the 6th grade, Steve began playing the saxophone in the school band. As he developed his talent, he went on to play in Rock N Roll bands in the 1960s and 1970s and did studio work with various well-known artists. But when he surrendered his life to God, he completely dedicated his musical talents to ministry for the Lord. Steve eventually recorded a CD of his favorite old hymns entitled, "Praise to My Father." He loved the outdoors and the peaceful country settings in Mississippi, being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially received great pleasure in playing the saxophone in churches and with other musicians.
Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years, Luan Webb Munsell; three children, Lacey Munsell Rowland, Russell Munsell, and Nathan Munsell and wife Casie; and grandson, Hayden Rowland and wife Alexa. He is blessed with a total of 4 other grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lear Reid Marchand; and brother-in-law, Virgil "Twig" Webb.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA 70726 on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Magnolia, MS at 2:00 p.m.
