Steven Neese Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care - Zionsville from Jan. 27 to Jan. 28, 2022.

Publish in a newspaper

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Steve Neese, devoted husband, brother and uncle passed away peacefully in his loving wife's arms at the age of 66.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kelly; fur babies Oliver and Fluffy; brother Mike Neese (Jamie) and their two children Branden and Jenny; brother Ritchie Neese (Tanay) and his daughters Stevie Jean (daughter Melanie) and Victoria Neese Brame (Alan).
Steve was born on October 20, 1955, in Lebanon, Indiana to his parents Betty Jean Detherage and Richard Farris Neese. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1973. Steve and his brothers started Neese Brother's Construction. They built many houses throughout Central Indiana and enjoyed riding their motorcycles south through Central America during the cold Indiana winters.
In 1982, the brothers and their family established Neese Brother's Potato Place in the City Market downtown Indianapolis. It was love at first sight, when Cousin Diane brought her best friend Kelly to join the team. From that point forward, Steve and Kelly were inseparable. They were glad to return to Zionsville in 2001 upon the completion of their quaint home in the village. Steve's favorite past times included strumming the guitar, reading books, projects around the house, sitting on the front porch, and loving on all their fur babies throughout the years.
All are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of Steve at Simplicity Funeral Home in Zionsville on January 31, 2022.

I was saddened to learn about Steve's passing. Within the last 2 years, we visited on his porch for a while as he was eating his lunch of a peanut butter sandwich. We were catching up with each other's families and sharing a few memories as classmates. He said he has had a happy life. It was a visit that I will always remember. Prayers for Kelly and all of Steve's family.

Steve was one of my oldest best friends. I remember listening to Abbey Road for the first time in his little house. We learned guitar together, and kissed girls together, and cruised the golf course late at night together. I got to meet and play with his band in the last few years as I passed thru Z'ville. Steve was a very well read man, a creative builder and splendid musician, a kind, polite, happy man and his love for Kelly and his nieces and nephews and his four legged family was wonderful to watch. I will continue to think of my old friend often. Golden Slumbers, Needy

I am deeply saddened to hear of Steve's passing. Steve was a classmate and one of my very first friends when my family moved to Zionsville in 1966. I will always remember how Steve and I quickly became friends and the times we walked from the old school to the Neese family home on Linden Street for lunch. I ran into Steve a few months ago and we had a great conversation. I didn't know it would be our last. Steve was such a great guy and will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Neese family. RIP Needy!
