Steven Edward Pregler

Steven Edward Pregler, 72, of Meriden, CT, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Karen Edson Pregler; his daughter, Heather Rochette; son, Robert Rochette, and his wife, Amanda; daughter, Kasey Pregler, and her husband, Christopher Colgan; grandchildren Nathan, Brenna, Avery, Nolan, and Aubrey, who meant the world to him; as well as his sisters- and brothers-in-law, including Robert, Peter, Susan, Elizabeth and her husband Butch, Jane, Thomas and his wife Anna, Linda and her husband Richard, Ellen; and many loving nieces and nephews. He attended Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT, and Central Connecticut State University.
He loved gardening and all genres of music. He was a crossword solver extraordinaire, expert trivia knower, and an avid reader. Steve loved the ocean and spent a lot of time on Cape Cod with his family. He also appreciated a good bourbon and was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. At age 10, he had one of the earliest pediatric open-heart surgeries. He worked for 28 years at the Department of Children and Families as a Duty Administrator at Long Lane School in Middletown, CT.
His family will receive family and friends on Monday, December 22nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
